1. How do I get a quote for my project?
In order to ensure that things run smoothly right from the start, please send us the text to be translated/edited via e-mail (if possible, as a Word file) to mail(at)sprachwerkstatt.info. Once we have received your text, we will get back to you as soon as possible and send you a quote via e-mail.
2. What is your preferred file format?
We preferably work with MS Word, PowerPoint or Excel since this facilitates data processing for us. Upon request, we also process other file formats such as .pdf, .rtf, .txt.
3. I need the translation as soon as possible. How quickly can you deliver?
Our delivery times are based on many factors including complexity, terminology specific to the sector in question and the text volume. As soon as we have received the text to be edited/translated and you have provided us with your requested delivery time, we will review the text and send you an e-mail stating the time required for translation/editing.
We understand the need to meet tight deadlines. However, in some cases it is required to thoroughly research and get acquainted with a new subject matter before we can start to translate the first lines. To request a quote, please send us an e-mail to mail(at)sprachwerkstatt.info along with the text to be translated/edited. If required, we will gladly sign a confidentiality agreement in advance.
4. Translation prices – how are they calculated?
Translations are billed per line. The accepted standard for a line is 55 characters including blanks and punctuation. Rates include the actual translation as well as any research and proofreading involved.
For translations, we charge from 1,50 Euro / standard line.
In some cases, it can prove beneficial to agree on a flat rate or an hourly fee. However, this is decided after consultation on a case-by-case basis. Let us know your precise requirements and we will gladly provide you with a free no-obligation quote.
5. What does editing cost?
We charge either by the hour or by standard line or page.
Fees for editing: from 40 Euro / hour or 4.50 Euro / standard page.
6. What is the difference between proofreading and editing?
The words proofreading and editing are often used interchangeably. However, there is a substantial difference between the two. When proofreading, the text is reviewed in terms of spelling, grammar, punctuation and capitalisation. Editing on the other hand involves a much more thorough look at the text. It combines proofreading together with a revision of the overall structure of the text for continuity and factual accuracy. As a consequence, proofreading a text may take an hour while editing the same text may take up to two or three hours.
7. Is there a minimum charge?
For translations comprising 500 words or less, we charge a minimum fee of 10 Euro. The minimum charge for certified translations (up to 1 page) is 30 Euro plus a certification fee.
8. Do you offer an express service?
We understand the need to meet tight deadlines. In order to cater to those clients who require evening and weekend translation/editing services, we have created an express service at a surcharge of 30% and endevour to return all work as quickly as possible.
